Information literacy is a set of abilities requiring individuals to "recognize when information is needed and have the ability to locate, evaluate, and use effectively the needed information." (ALA)
Information is important to all of us, and finding good information can sometimes be a challenge. The librarians from the Sueltenfuss Library are available to come to your campus and provide information literacy sessions for your students. These sessions prepare the students for the advanced research they face when entering college and beyond. We hope that the skills they will take away from these sessions will also prepare them to be life-long learners, and savvy information consumers. The range of subjects taught by the librarians includes:
Information literacy sessions are more effective when tied to specific assignments and in conjunction with the teacher. Presentations usually last approximately 45 minutes and are web based with hands on student use. Interested librarians, faculty and administrator should contact:
Courier Services
For students who lack transportation to visit the Sueltenfuss Library, materials checked out from the OLLU library can be delivered and picked up from the campuses free of charge. Contact Steven Wise at wises@lake.olusa.edu for more information.
